Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at Queensland University of Technology Australia for 2014-15

The University

Queensland University of Technology is a public research university situated in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Queensland University of Technology was founded in 1989 and has since been providing its students with the best educational opportunities available. The University of Queensland sees an annual enrollment of over 39,000 students.

The PhD Scholarships

The Queensland University of Technology is delighted to announce the limited availability of various PhD scholarships. Each of these PhD scholarships is awarded to a different department or facility associated with the Queensland University of Technology.

The Departments

The following departments are awarded PhD scholarships:

  • Translational Research Institute
  • Mathematical Science School
  • Institute for Health and Biomedical Innovations

Award

Each of these PhD scholarships is fully funded. This means that the scholarships cover the full tuition fees for the domestic tuition rate as well as offer a generous stipend decided upon by the Australian Research Council. Currently the annual stipend amount is $30, 745 which is equivalent to £17,936. International applicants are still eligible to apply if they can demonstrate their ability to cover the additional difference between the international and domestic tuition rates.

Duration

These PhD scholarships are intended to last for a duration of three years in a full time study session.

The Research Projects

Each of these PhD scholarships is attached to specific research projects. Recipients of these PhD scholarships are required to work on the research project that the scholarship is attached to. Below are the research projects as well as their departments that they are linked to:

  • Ghrelin Associated with the Progression of Prostate Cancer- Translational Research Institute
  • Analysis of Defect Driven Pattern Formations in a Mathematical Model- Mathematical Science School
  • Multi-Scale Mathematical Model of Cell Behaviors- Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovations.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • The applicant must have received upper second class or a first class honours degree, or a master’s degree in a relative degree subject to the research project they are wishing to be considered for.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate efficiently. Applicants from countries where English is not their first language will be required to submit language assessment scores as evidence of their proficiency in the English language.
  • The applicant must provide all of the contact information for at least three academic references.
  • The applicant must provide a copy of their updated CV or resume as well as provide all copies of previous academic transcripts.
  • The applicant must compose a thorough research proposal that clearly illustrates their individual research plan. The proposal should be well thought out with a solid hypothesis and an outline of the research that the applicant anticipates conducting.
  • The applicant must provide a short personal statement or essay demonstrating their motivations for their field of research and any personal issues that they have had to overcome to get to this point in their lives. They also should illustrate why they believe they are deserving of this award.

Deadline for Scholarship Applications

The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 26th of July.
