President’s Doctoral Scholar Award

The University of Manchester is pleased to announce the availability of their President’s Doctoral Scholar Award. This PhD scholarship is intended to be used for towards the cost of a doctoral degree program. The President’s Doctoral Scholar Award is awarded to the most elite students that have strong academic backgrounds. The PDS Award is being awarded in four different faculties:

• Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences
• Faculty of Life Science
• Faculty of Humanities
• Faculty of Medical and Human Science

The Value of these PhD scholarships is a £1000 enhancement to any stipends the recipient holds. These PhD scholarships have a unique value to them. Recipients of these PhD scholarships are required to attend distinct events where they will be presented with opportunities to meet with the department heads at the university as well as interact with their educational networks and communities. Recipients of theses PhD scholarships will be made PDS ambassadors which is a striking achievement on any CV that will help some applicants secure jobs. Eligibility

• The applicant may be both domestic and international students in research study programs.
• The applicant must have already accepted a place of study with the university
• The applicant must show academic excellence. Transcripts and previous awards will be taken into consideration as well as any previous research publications.
• The applicant must have a desire to work in a challenging research environment
• Applicants must be able to perform the duties asked of them when awarded these scholarships. Failure to uphold responsibility will result in the termination of the scholarship
• Applicants must have a strong understanding of the English language and international students will be asked to demonstrate their proficiency.
• International students must be in compliance with their visas at all times.
