University: The National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore is a national university of comprehensive research located in Singapore. The university was established in 1905 making it one of the oldest universities in Singapore as well as one of the largest universities in regards to enrollment and curriculum options. The university became the National University of Singapore in 1980 in a government attempt to combine the University of Singapore and the Nanyang University. The National University of Singapore sees an annual enrollment of over 27,000 students.

The PhD Scholarships

The National University of Singapore are pleased to offer a limited amount of PhD scholarships.

PhD Scholarships: PhD Scholarships in Geography

Description: One of the areas that is offering PhD scholarships is the Geography department at the National University of Singapore. Research in Geography spans three different themes. Those themes are:

  • Politics, Economy and Space
  • Social and Cultural Geographies
  • Tropical Environmental Changes.

Award: Each of these PhD scholarships are fully funded PhD scholarships. This means that the scholarships will cover the domestic tuition rates. International applicants are still welcome to apply if they are able to demonstrate the ability to cover the difference between domestic and international tuition rates. The scholarships also offer stipends in the amount of £13,726 annually.

Duration: These PhD scholarships last for a duration of four years.

Deadline: The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 1st of November.

PhD Scholarships: Graduate School for Integrative Science and Engineering

Description: Graduate School for Integrative Science and Engineering is pleased to offer a limited amount of PhD scholarships. The Graduate School has worked hard to build productive partnerships with many leading research facilities in order to provide their students with the top notch research opportunities.

Duration: These PhD scholarships last for a duration of four years.

Deadline: The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 15th of November.

Award: Each of these PhD scholarships are fully funded PhD scholarships. This means that the scholarships will cover the domestic tuition rates. International applicants are still welcome to apply if they are able to demonstrate the ability to cover the difference between domestic and international tuition rates. The scholarships also offer stipends in the amount of £13,726 annually.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • The applicant must have an upper second class or first class honours degree in a relative subject to the research project that they are wishing to be considered for.
  • Applicant have to be able to communicate effectively. Applicants who do not speak English as their first language they are required to provide language assessment scores. The IELTS is an acceptable form of English language assessment.
  • Applicants are required to submit research proposals clearly illustrating and outlining their research intentions.
  • Applicant must provide at least two reference.
  • Applicants are required to submit a personal statement or essay illustrating their reasons for pursing these degree programs.
  • The applicant must have accepted a place of study at the National University of Singapore.
  • The applicants must provide an up to date CV or resume that illustrate their previous academic training as well as any previous research experience they have acquired.
