PhD Scholarships: Research Assistant

TU Darmstadt offers a limited number of PhD scholarships or research assistant positions for applicants wishing to undertake research opportunities at their Software Lab. The Software Lab conducts research in software engineering and programming languages with an emphasis on techniques and tools for constructing efficient, reliable, and secure software. The common regions of research that the Software Lab participates in is static program analysis, dynamic program analysis, and test case generation.

Research assistant are generally required to work part time at the lab. Female candidates and candidates with disabilities are highly encourages to apply as they will be shown preference for these PhD scholarships.

These research assistant positions are awarded a generous annual salary to participate in research studies at the Software Lab.

Duration

The duration of these PhD scholarships is for a maximum durations of three to five years.

Eligibility: The applicant must have a Master’s degree in computer science or fields related to computer science. The applicant must be a creative thinker and must be able to work under pressure coming up with new ideas and solutions for technical issues. The applicant must not be intimidated by large scale research projects or large scale software. The applicant must be comfortable writing and manipulating computer codes. The applicant must show proficiency in the English language. This includes written English. The applicant must be able to understand technical and computer terms and texts in English. Knowledge of the German language is encouraged to ensure that applicants are able to interact with the community around them. The applicant must be able to professionally work with undergraduate students in a professional setting. All students must have a general respect for each other no matter where they are in their degree studies. The applicant must be ready and willing to participate in extended research projects. They must be willing to work on complicated projects that many outside individuals wouldn’t be able to understand. The applicant must be able to present their work to both nonacademic and academic audience. This may include participation in international conferences.
