Australian Postgraduate Awards and International Postgraduate Research Scholarship at Bond University for 2014-15

The University

Bond University is a not for profit private university on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. The university was established in 1987 through the Parliament of Queensland which granted the school university status. Bond University received the most five star ratings in 2013 than any other university in Australia. The university is unique in that it offers accelerated degree programmes. Every January, May, and September sees the commencement of a new semester at Bond University allowing the school to have three semesters annually. This allows students to complete their degrees up to a year faster.

The PhD Scholarships

Australian Postgraduate Award: The Bond University is pleased to announce a limited number of Australian Postgraduate Awards. The Australian Postgraduate Award also referred to as the APA is available to domestic applicants. The APA is funded through the Commonwealth Government and is managed through the school. The APA is intended to be used as full time PhD scholarships or Master’s scholarships. Arrangements can be made in extreme circumstances to convert the APA for part time studies. The APA can be applied towards any postgraduate programme provided through the university.

Value: The APA provides an annual living allowance in the amount of $25,392 to cover the cost of living. Additional allowances will be made for relocation and thesis fees under the approval of the university. All invoices and receipts must be presented for consideration and the university will determine how much each individual will be reimbursed.

Duration: For PhD scholarships the duration of the scholarship lasts for three years. For Master’s scholarships the duration of the scholarship is two years.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants of the APA can be both continuing and upcoming students of domestic status.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a full time program at the university unless prior approval has been received to undertake part time studies.
  • Applicants must have received high marks academically. Previous study, work experience, research publications, and any volunteer experience can be submitted to supplement the applicant’s academics.

How to Apply:

  • Applicants are selected for APA scholarships based on a competitive academic basis.
  • Applicants must fill out enrollment applications with the university in order to be considered. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all the appropriate documentation is received by the university.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship: The Bond University is pleased to offer a limited number of their International Postgraduate Research Scholarships. The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship also referred to as the IPRS is a scholarship intended solely for international students. The IPRS is funded through the Commonwealth Government and is administrated through the university. The IPRS can be applied as full time PhD scholarships or for full time Master’s studies. The main goal of the IPRS is to attract high quality international students to support the research effort at Bond University. The IPRS can be applied towards any subject at the university research level.

Value: The IPRS awards recipients with waived tuition fees. Successful applicants for the IPRS are also awarded the Bond Dean’s Scholarship that allows for an allowance of $25,392 annually. The university does reserve the right not to award the additional living allowance.

  • Applicants for the IPRS must be enrolled in a full time postgraduate research degree program.
  • The applicant must have obtained high academic marks.
  • Applicants are allowed to submit previous publications, study or research experience relevant towards their degree to help supplement their academics. Recipients of the IPRS are not allowed to have previously held a government funded research scholarships.
  • Applicants must be in accordance with the terms of their visas throughout the duration of their scholarships.
  • If the scholarship is set to last more than a year recipients are mandated to submit to an annual review. If academic progress is not being met the university reserves the right to terminate the scholarship at any time.

How to Apply:

  • Applicants are selected for the IPRS based off of academic merit. Applicants that present prior experience through research or publication will be ranked higher.
  • Applicants must fill out enrollment applications with the university in order to be considered. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all the appropriate documentation is received by the university.
