5 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at Nottingham Trent University UK for 2014-15

The University

Nottingham Trent University is a public university located in Nottingham, England. The institute was established back in 1843 but was awarded university status in 1992 making it one of the UK’s newer universities. Today the Nottingham Trent University is one of the biggest universities within the United Kingdom seeing an annual enrollment of over 28,000 students.

The PhD Scholarships

Nottingham Trent University is pleased to announce the availability of five PhD scholarships. These 5 PhD scholarships cover five different departments.

The Departments

The departments are listed below:

  • Nottingham Business School
  • School of Social Science: The deadline for this scholarship is the 2nd of December.
  • School of Arts and Humanities
  • School of Architecture, Design, and Built Environments
  • School of Science and Technology: This PhD scholarship is assigned to a research project connected to the Innovation in Teaching and Assessments in Bioscience. This scholarship holds a five year duration on a part time study basis. The deadline for this scholarship is the 31st of July.

Award

All of these PhD scholarships are fully funded. They offer tuition waivers for the domestic tuition rate. International applicants are welcome to apply as long as they can demonstrate their ability to cover the difference between domestic and international tuition rates. Each of these PhD scholarships offer generous stipends. All of the scholarships except for the scholarship awarded to the School of Science and Technology award applicants a stipend in the amount of £13,590. The scholarship awarded to the School of Science and Technology offers a stipend of at least £25,759.

Duration

Each of these scholarships aside from the School of Science and Technology lasts for a duration of three years in a full time study status. The School of Science and Technology lasts for a duration of five years in a part time study basis.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • The applicant must have a first class or upper second class honours degree, a master’s degree, or the academic equivalent. The degree must be relevant to the subject that they are applying for.
  • The applicants must have accepted a place of study at the Nottingham Trent University.
  • International applicants who do not speak English as their first language must be willing to submit their language assessment scores. The IELTS scores are the most recognized.
  • The applicant must submit a research proposal illustrating how they plan to conduct their research. The proposal should include summaries and an outline.
  • The applicant must submit a short personal statement or personal essay illustrating why they wished to be considered for these PhD scholarships. It is important that these brief statements illustrate the intent and purpose of the applicant.
  • The applicant must provide at least two references.

Applicants that are interested in being considered for one of the above scholarships are encouraged to apply. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the school receives all of the appropriate documentations. Each scholarship is subject to its own guidelines as well as deadlines.
