The University

The Aix-Marseille University is a public research university established at Provence, in southern France. The university can trace its ancestry all the way back to 1409 and is the product of the mergers between the University of the Mediterranean, the Paul Cezanne University, and the University of Provence. The merger went into effect at the beginning of 2012 making the Aix-Marseille University the largest university in all of France with an annual enrollment of over 70,000 students. The Aix-Marseille University is among the largest university in the French speaking world. The university is comprised of five different main campuses. The university has a reputation for success and has produced many ambassadors, parliament speakers, Nobel Laureates recipients, Pulitzer Prize recipients, and many heads of state.

The PhD Scholarships

The Aix-Marseille University is pleased to announce the availability of 3 funded PhD scholarships for their Integrative and Clinical Neuroscience PhD program. These PhD scholarships are intended to be awarded to outstanding Master degree graduates who have graduated for top ranking non-French schools.

Award: These PhD scholarships offer a monthly salary of up to €1,368. Applicants will be responsible for their own tuition fees and international students will be responsible for maintaining their visa fees.

Duration: These PhD scholarships last for a maximum duration of three years in a full time doctoral degree program.

Eligibility Requirements: The applicants must have graduated with a Master’s degree from a prestigious ranking university outside of France. The applicant must be pursuing a degree relative to neuroscience at the Aix-Marseille University. International applicants must be in compliance with the terms of their visas at all times. The applicant must provide at least two letters of recommendation from academic sources. The applicant will be required to write a 500 word letter of motivation. The applicant must accept a place of study at the university. International applicants will have to show English language proficiency if they originate from countries where English is not their first language.

How to Apply for these PhD scholarships:

Applicants are required to apply online for these scholarships. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all of the appropriate documentation is received by the school. The university has a strict format for which they want to receive the documentation and applicants are responsible for ensuring that their documentation meets the format requirements.

Applicants must supply all previous academic transcripts and degrees to demonstrate academic excellence.

A selection committee from the university have compiled a list of nineteen ongoing research projects to be applied towards their PhD program. The applicant is required to select two research projects, rank them, and then be prepared to defend their motivation for their choices. The selection committee will go over all applications and will shortlist at least 10 applicants that will then progress to the interview stage. A final decision will be rendered in July awarding three applicants with these PhD scholarships.

Deadline: The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 15th of June.
