The PhD Scholarships:

7 Graduate Teaching Assistant: The University of Nottingham’s Business School is offering 7 Graduate Teaching Assistant positions. These teaching assistant position are in the following divisions:

  • 1 position in Operations Management and Information Systems Division
  • 1 position in Accounting Division
  • 1 position in Marketing Division
  • 3 positions in Industrial Economics and Finance Division
  • 1 position in Entrepreneurship and Innovation

These teaching assistant positions work the same as PhD scholarships except that with the teaching assistant positions recipients are required to dedicate a predetermined amount of time per week to teaching under the direct supervision of their program supervisors.

Value

These PhD scholarships or assistantships will provide paid tuition at the domestic rate as well as an annual stipend of £18180 to be used for the cost of living while the recipient undertakes their teaching duties at the university.

Duration

The maximum duration of these PhD scholarships or assistantships is a maximum of four years in a full time post.

Eligibility: The eligibility for these teaching assistant positions are as follows: The applicant must be enrolled as a full time doctoral student and must be able to contribute a minimum of 20% of their personal time to teaching. This may include small group assessment, small group teaching, or class preparation, as well as administrative duties. The applicant must provide a research proposal roughly 2000 words in length with their enrollment application. The research proposal should be clear and professional and the committee must be able to clearly gauge what you are hoping to accomplish. The applicant must have obtained a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area. Relative subject areas would include marketing, accounting, management, entrepreneurship, innovation and system management. The applicant must present excellent communication skills. They should easily be able to appear professional and confident. Applicants are required to submit proof of English language proficiency if they are international students coming from countries where English is not their first language. Applicants that hold a Tier 2 visa should note that these assistant positions will not cover the requirements set by the Home Office for a Tier 2 visa. Additionally candidates must be in compliance with the terms of their visas at all times during the duration of their degree programs.
