Formally known as the University of Northumbria, it is the second university located at Newcastle, England. It was formerly called Newcastle Polytechnic but was later established as a university in 1992. The PhD Scholarships

Scholarship Overview: Currently, there are 20 PhD scholarships that international and local students can apply to. Some will only be able to accommodate self-funded PhD students who have access to their own funding but the rest of the studentships are able to provide a generous stipend to successful applicants.

Scholarship Awards: Applicants who exhibit the qualities suited for the PhD scholarships will be granted the full £13,863 per year. The selection process will be strict and applications will be thoroughly examined due to the restrictions in the number of slots available.

Scholarship Requirements:

• Applicants should have first class honours degree or its close equivalent, upper second class honours degree from a higher education institution in the United Kingdom
• Previous experiences in a related field
• Non-EU students should hold equivalent academic qualifications
• Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS score of not less than 6.5.
