The University of East Anglia also referred to as UEA is a public research university sited in London, England. The university has a reputation for being an international institute of excellence when it comes to research and its community. The university strives to balance experience with educations so that its students may graduate with a unique education. The university is ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world. Over 90% of the research produced at the University of East Anglia is of international caliber. The 7 PhD Scholarships

The University of East Anglia is pleased to be offering seven PhD scholarships for qualified applicants. The seven PhD scholarships are conducted through two different departments.

  • The School of Computing Science that is offering two of the seven PhD scholarships
  • School of Pharmacy that is offering the additional five PhD scholarships.

Each of these individual PhD scholarships is attached to an ongoing research project conducted through the university.

Award: These PhD scholarships cover the full tuition costs at the domestic rate as well as a generous annual allowance.

Requirements: These PhD scholarships are offered on a self-funding basis. International applicants are still welcome to apply but they will have to demonstrate their ability to pay the difference between domestic and international tuition rates. Applicants will be considered for these awards once they have accepted a place of study at the University of East Anglia. The applicant must have a master’s degree pertaining to the subject of the research interest. The degree should be a first class or upper second class honours degree. Each of these PhD scholarships are attached to full time research projects. The applicant must be able to undertake full time studies.

Research Projects

Below are just some of the numerous research projects that applicants can choose to work on.

  • Automated Accent Compensation in Speech Recognition: This is one of the School of Computing Sciences PhD scholarships. It takes a look at the difficulties that automated speech recognition software has when it encounters an accented voice.
  • Cationic Calixarenes- Gene Delivery and the Future of Drugs: This is one of the School of Pharmacy’s PhD scholarships. Researchers know that there are effective gene and in vitro drug therapy treatments for cancer. This PhD program is taking a look at how drugs are delivered through the system of cancer patients and how to maximize the delivery of these drugs to the correct cells without complicated side effects.
  • Time Series Data Mining: This is the second PhD scholarship offered by the School of Computing Science. The goal of this project is to take a serious look into timed series data mining and creating an outline of classifications and environmental data.

Deadline: The deadline for all of these PhD scholarships is the 31st of July.
