The University of Leeds is considered a British university founded in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Leeds International Research Scholarship

The University of Leeds offers nine Leeds International Research Scholarships available for international students who show academic excellence and research potential. The Leeds International Research Scholarship can be applied towards the use in any doctoral research degree programme. These PhD scholarships are highly competitive and open for international students that are wishing to commence their doctoral studies at the University of Leeds.

 

Value

These PhD scholarships cover the cost of tuition fees covers the cost of tuition fees at the international tuition rate. These PhD scholarships cover an annual allowance of £10,000 to be used for the cost of living. The scholarship does not cover the cost of health care so international students will be responsible for acquiring health insurance for themselves and their dependents.

 

Duration

The duration of these PhD scholarships is for a maximum of three years. The scholarships cover the first year then the individual will be evaluated and as long as sufficient academic progress was accomplished the scholarship will be renewed for the additional two years.

 

Eligibility: The applicant must be of international student statusThe International Research Scholarship is intended to be awarded to students that are responsible for paying full international tuition rates.The applicant must successfully submit an application form as well as all of the necessary documentation needed to be accepted into the University of Leeds. Successful applicants will receive a University ID called their Banner ID numbers. These numbers are important because applicants will not be considered for these scholarships without their numbers. The applicant must show evidence of academic merit. All previous diplomas and transcripts will be taken into consideration. Prior research publications will also be taken into consideration. Applicants wishing to receive these awards should be within the top 5% of their class. The applicants may not already possess a doctoral degree or a degree of equivalent value. The applicants must show sufficient proof of proficiency in the English language. Applicants that are applying from countries where English is not their first language have until the deadline of the scholarships to successfully demonstrate language requirements.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the application form for the international research scholarship. The application form should be typed and returned to the university’s Postgraduate Scholarships Office either as a word document or as a PDF document.

The additional documents can be sent to the Postgraduate Scholarship Office. Applicants should receive an email confirming the department successfully received their application. The scholarship office passes applications to the appropriate school and it is up to the discretion of the school to choose potential recipients. The university will let successful applicants know they have received a scholarship by publishing a list of names on the schools website.

 

Deadline

The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 16th of June.
