The University of Durham is a public research university located within Durham, England, United Kingdom. The university was established in 1832 as an act of Parliament. It is amongst the oldest universities within England and holds claim to being one of the first universities to require tuition. The university receives high praises and is internationally recognized for its research contributions.

The PhD Scholarships

Scholarships Descriptions: There are many scholarships opportunities awarded to applicants that choose the University of Durham for their doctorate studies. Currently, there are 15 PhD scholarships available for applicants commencing their studies with the university. Scholarship Deadline: Each of these scholarships are subject to their own deadlines. Unless stated otherwise the below PhD scholarships have open deadlines. However, it is important to remember that the earlier an applicant applies for a scholarship the higher their chances of being considered and awarded a scholarship.

Scholarship Requirements

Each of these scholarships are subject to their own set of rules and requirements. The following are guidelines that many scholarships have in common.

  1. Applicants must send their cover letters as well as their completed research proposals to the university. The research proposal should be well thought out with an extensive research plan and a sound hypothesis.
  2. Applicants are required to be students of the university.
