6 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at The Scuola Normale Superiore Pisa Italy

This article provides an overview of some of the PhD scholarships available at the Scuola Normale Institute.

The Institute: Scuola Normale Superiore

Scuola Normale Superiore is a communal state supported institute for higher education that is located within Pisa, Italy. This institute works with a partnership between Pisa University as well as the Sant’Anna Institute of Advanced Study in order to create the University Systems. It is amongst the only three schools that are officially sanctioned as special act public universities within Italy. The institute was developed in 1811 and has since then been providing outstanding degree programs for its applicants. The higher education institute sees a yearly academic enrollment around 500 candidates.

The PhD Scholarships

Scholarship Summary: There are a limited number of PhD scholarships for applicants wishing to continue their studies at the Scuola. These highly competitive scholarships are awarded based off of outstanding academic merit and are awarded to highly qualified applicants.

Number of Scholarships: Currently, the institute is able to provide a minimum of six PhD scholarships for qualified applicants. These PhD scholarships are offered through a variety of different departments throughout the school.

Scholarship Award: Each of these PhD scholarships offers full tuition fee waivers for the domestic student tuition rate and a generous annual stipend in the amount of £14,084. The stipend is intended to be put towards the cost of living and other necessary expenses. Free meals are also provided through this generous PhD scholarship scheme. International applicants are encouraged to apply and will have the difference between the tuition rates to finance on their own or through additional loans or PhD scholarships.

Scholarship Duration: These scholarships can be funded for up to four years of full time doctoral studies.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Applicants must be able to speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Applicants must have a first class undergraduate degree or a master’s degree in a relative degree subject as these PhD scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement.
  • The applicant must have completed their research proposals with a clear hypothesis and outline of their expected research. This will be used to determine if the applicant will be a good fit to the academic research projects.
  • Candidates for these doctoral studies will have to supply at least two academic references to help support their claim of being outstanding applicants.

Scholarship Deadlines

Each of these scholarships has a different set of requirements and deadlines. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they have competed their applications as well as submitted all of the appropriate documentation to the school for consideration.
