8 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at University of Sheffield UK for 2014-15

The University of Sheffield is a public research university situated in Sheffield, England. The university achieved its Royal Charter in 1905. The University of Sheffield is considered on the of earliest red brick universities in the United Kingdom. The university is a part of many prestigious research councils and has been ranked highly amongst the most prestigious universities in the entire world.

The PhD Scholarships

The University of Sheffield is pleased to announce the availability of 8 PhD scholarships. These PhD scholarships are offered in a variety of different academic departments and each of them is attached to a specific research project.

Research Projects

The research projects and departments are listed below:

  1. Analysis and Designs of Non-Linear Functional Systems: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Automatic Control and System Engineering.
  2. Carbon Dioxide Utilization of Heterogeneous Catalysis: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
  3. Heterogeneous Catalytic Conversations of Waste Material: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
  4. GPU Accelerated Micro-Simulation of Transportation Systems: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Computer Science. Deadline: 11th of July.
  5. Integration In-Vitro Modelling of Arterial Biology for Health or Diseases: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Computer Science.
  6. Modelling of Crystalline Bio-Film Depositions and Encrustation in Urinary Catheters: This PhD research project is connected to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Deadline: 15th of July.
  7. Journalism Studies: This PhD research project is connected to the Faculty of Social Science.
  8. Management: This PhD research project is connected to the Management School at the University of Sheffield.

Award: Each of these PhD scholarships are all fully funded. This means that they cover the cost of tuition for the domestic student rate. International applicants are still welcome to apply however they must demonstrate the ability to pay the difference between domestic and international tuition rates. These PhD scholarships also offer a generous stipend in the amount of £13,863 annually.

Duration: These PhD scholarships last for a duration of 3 years.

Requirements:

  • The applicant is required to have an upper second class or first class degree with honours. The applicant must have a degree in a subject area related to the research project they are hoping to become a part of.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate effectively. Applicants who do not speak English as their first language are required to submit language assessment scores such as the IELTS.
  • The applicant must provide at least two references.
  • The applicant must compose a research proposal that clearly illustrates in detail the approach the applicant projects to take while performing their research.
  • The applicant must submit a short personal statement or essay that illustrates their reasoning for wanting to undertake the research or doctorate program.
  • The applicant must provide all their previous academic transcripts as well an up to date CV or resume.
