PhD Scholarships

Scholarship Summary: There are 26 PhD scholarships available at Heriot-Watt University. Unless otherwise stated below, the programs are open to all interested EU and non-EU students. Candidates who have previous knowledge on the specific program they are applying to will be preferred along with promising international students who are willing to pay the difference on expenses and tuition fees.

Scholarship Grants: Herriot-Watt University PhD scholarships will cover the full tuition fees and provide a yearly stipend of £13,000 to £20,226 depending on the program. Only applications that are able to comply with the requirements will be entertained and accommodated.

PhD Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree at 2.1 or above on disciplines related to the program
  • Previous experience or knowledge on the discipline is helpful
  • Good English language skills with an IELTS score of not less than 6.5
  • Discipline, attention to detail, computer literacy, methodical approach to workloads and excellent communication skills
