Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at University of Exeter UK for 2014-15

The University

The University of Exeter is a public research university situated in South West England. The University of Exeter was awarded Royal Charter in 1955 and has been ranked respectably amongst other universities in both research and student satisfaction. The University of Exeter sees an annual enrollment of over 18,000 students.

The PhD Scholarships

The University of Exeter is pleased to announce the availability of four PhD scholarships. These PhD scholarships are awarded by three different research departments. These PhD scholarships are awarded through the following departments:

  • College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physical Science: This department is awarding two PhD scholarships.
  • College of Social Science and International Studies: This department is awarding one PhD scholarship.
  • Medical School: This department is awarding one PhD scholarship.

The PhD scholarships are attached to the following research project topics:

  • Functional Materials: Graphene Carbon Composites with Thermal Conductivity: This research project is conducted through the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physical Science. The deadline for this PhD scholarship is the 31st of July.
  • Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamic: This research project is conducted through the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physical Science. The deadline for this PhD scholarship is the 5th of August.
  • Social Science and International Studies: This research PhD scholarships is awarded as a general PhD scholarship for applicants participating in the College of Social Science and International Studies.
  • Public Health Interventions Evaluations and Designs: This research project is conducted through the Medical School at the University of Exeter. The deadline for this PhD scholarship is the 25th of July.

Award

These above PhD scholarships award applicants fully funded scholarships to be applied to studies. These scholarships cover tuition fees at the domestic tuition rate. International applicants are still welcome to apply as long as they can demonstrate the ability to cover the difference between international and domestic tuition fees. These PhD scholarships also offer an annual stipend in the amount of £13863.

Duration

These PhD scholarships are intended to last for a duration of 3.5 years of full time study.

Requirements:

  • The applicant must have an upper second class or first class honours degree in a relative subject to the research project they are applying for.
  • The applicant must be able to effectively communicate. Applicants who do not speak English as their first language are required to submit language assessment scores. In many of these programs applicants are expected to provide IELTS scores of at least 7 for an overall score.
  • The applicant must compose a research proposal with summaries and outlines for their research purposes.
  • The applicant must provide at least two references
  • The applicant must submit a personal statement or essay explaining their reasons for undertaking the program that they chose.
  • The applicant must have accepted a place of study at the University.
  • Prior research experience is not required but highly encouraged for applicants wishing to be chosen for the research projects. Preference may be given to applicants with previous research experience.
  • The applicant must be ready to commence full time studies in September.
