The PhD Scholarships
The University of Wurzburg is pleased to announce limited availability of their PhD scholarships. The International Graduate Program is a joint effort between the University of Wurzburg which provides 9 PhD scholarships and the universities of Regensburg, Erlangen-Nurnberg, and Bayreuth which each are offering one PhD scholarship apiece. These PhD scholarships receive funding from the Elite Network of Bavaria, Germany and offer training for international subjects such as:
- Pharmacology
- Medicinal Chemistry
- Biophysics
- Chemistry
- Structural Biology
- Physiology
The research project that the PhD scholarship recipients will be undertaking is a research goal that is focused on the unique dynamics of the G protein-coupled receptors or GPCRs and how it affects therapy and drug development on a molecular level.
Award: These PhD scholarships offers the ability to work on 12 different doctoral projects all working towards a common goal. The scholarship also offers recipients a widely international environment for research as well as a comprehensive salary. The salary is usually at least 65% of what you would expect from a postdoctoral salary. Recipients of this award will have opportunities for networking and a unique opportunity to broaden their professional and scientific skill sets. A thesis committee is available for all recipients as well as specialized tutoring designed for international applicants.
Duration: These PhD scholarships last for an average duration of three years.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must have obtained a Master’s degree in a relative medical field or must have passed state exam degrees in Pharmacy or in the case of outstanding Bachelors of Science candidates a fast track option will be made available.
- The applicant must have a passion for research as well as previous research experience.
- International applicants must provide sufficient evidence of English language proficiency if they originate from countries where English is not their first language.
- International applicants must be in compliance with the terms of their visas at all times during the duration of their programs.
- The applicant must be able and willing to go the extra length in these projects.

If an applicant is invited to interview then they should obtain at least two letters of recommendation from academic sources. European residents will be invited to interview at the university. International applicants will be able to interview via video conferencing.
