150 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at University of Strathclyde for 2014-15

The University

The University of Strathclyde is a public research university situated in Glasgow, Scotland. The university was originally founded in 1796 making it one of the oldest universities in Glasgow. The university received university recognition by Royal Charter in 1964 and become one of the first technical universities. The University of Strathclyde sees an annual enrollment of over 19,700 students.

The PhD Scholarships: 150 PhD Studentships

The University of Strathclyde is pleased to announce the availability of 150 different PhD scholarships. These PhD scholarships are divided into four different departments:

  • Business: Examples of the research projects being undertaken with the Business department are:

o   Leadership in Practice

o   Corporate Social Motive and Responsibility in Foreign Investment Decision

o   Model of Collaborative Workings for Employability

  • Science: Examples of the research projects being undertaken with the Science department are:

o   Marine Optic and Remote Sensing

o   Fundamentals and Application of Advanced Semi-Conductor Laser Dynamics

  • Humanities and Social Sciences: Examples of the research projects being undertaken in the Humanities and Social Science department are:

o   Neural Basis of Creativity

o   Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and additional dementias.

  • Engineering: Examples of the research projects being undertaken in the Engineering department are:

o   Competitive Absorption in Clean Air Application

o   Modelling and Design for Space Access Vehicles

o   Operations and Air Traffic Management for Long Term Air Transport

Award: All of these PhD scholarships are fully funded. They offer tuition waivers for the domestic student tuition rate. International applicants are welcome to apply as long as they can demonstrate their ability to cover the difference between domestic student and international student’s tuition rates. Each of these PhD scholarships offer generous stipends in the amount of £13,863 annually.

Duration

These PhD scholarships are set to last a maximum duration of 3.5 years.

Requirements for All PhD Scholarships

  • The applicant must have a first class or upper second class honours degree, a master’s degree, or the academic equivalent. The degree must be relevant to the subject that they are applying for.
  • The applicants must have accepted a place of study at the University.
  • International applicants who do not speak English as their first language must be willing to submit their language assessment scores. The IELTS scores are the most recognized.
  • The applicant must submit a research proposal illustrating how they plan to conduct their research. The proposal should include summaries and an outline.
  • The applicant must submit a short personal statement or personal essay illustrating why they wished to be considered for these PhD scholarships. It is important that these brief statements illustrate the intent and purpose of the applicant.
  • The applicant must provide at least two references.
  • Each of these PhD scholarships have different deadlines as well as additional requirements it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they are in compliance with the additional terms and regulations for the research project they are involved in.
  • Applicants must be prepared to commence studies at the beginning of October.
