The University of Strathclyde is a Scottish public research university situated in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. It is Glasgow’s second oldest university after being established in 1796 under the name Andersonian Institute. The school received its Royal Charter in 1964 and became one of the first technological universities in the United Kingdom as well as assuming the name University of Strathclyde. PhD Scholarships: PhD Studentships

David Stow Studentship: The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in compliance with the University of Strathclyde’s School of Education is pleased to offer a number of PhD studentships available to both domestic and international applicants. These PhD scholarships or studentships are used to research four different themes that hold international significance:

  1. Equity and Social Justice
  2. Teaching and Teacher Education
  3. Children and Childhood
  4. Teaching Learning and Curriculum Policy
  • Value: These PhD scholarships cover the tuition expenses for both the domestic and international tuition rate for a maximum duration of three years. These PhD scholarships or studentships also offer an annual allowance of £13,863.
  • Duration: Recipients of these studentships are only guaranteed to be awarded for a duration of one year. After the first year the recipient must undergo a review in order to determine if adequate academic progress is being met. If the review is successful then the recipient will be awarded the maximum duration of these PhD scholarships or studentships.
  • Eligibility:

o   The applicant must have completed an application form for the studentship

o   The applicant must provide two references

o   The applicant must submit all previous academic transcripts and qualifications

o   The applicant must show proficiency in the English language

  • Deadline: The deadline for these PhD scholarships is the 30th of June.

The International Water Governance and Transboundary Aquifers: The University of Strathclyde’s Centre for Environmental Laws and Governances is offering PhD studentships to applicants that are able to investigate legal policies that govern transboundary aquifers.

  • Value: These PhD studentships cover the tuition fees for domestic rates and provides an annual allowance of up to £13863.
  • Duration: The maximum duration of these PhD scholarships is for a tenure of three years.
  • Eligibility:

o   The applicant must submit a 1500 word research proposal

o   The applicant must submit all previous academic qualifications and transcripts

o   The applicant must provide at least two academic references

o   The applicant must be proficient in the English language

o   The applicant must be accepted into a PhD programme through the University of Strathclyde.

 

Deadline: The deadline for these PhD studentships is the 15th of July.

School of Government and Public Policies PhD Studentships: the University of Strathclyde’s School of Government and Public Policy is offering up to five PhD studentships for International and Comparative Public Policy.These five studentships are intended to be used towards one or more of the following research areas:

  1. Policy making and Democratic Representation
  2. Administrative Capacity and Regional Development
  3. The Government Size
  4. Territorial Cooperation in Peripheral Regions
  5. Public Sector Reform and the Local Government
  • Value: These PhD scholarships or studentships cover domestic tuition fees as well as offers an annual stipend. International applicants are welcome to apply but are responsible for securing the difference in tuition fees between domestic and international rates.
  • Duration: These studentships last for a maximum duration of three years.
  • Eligibility:

o   The applicant must have a Master’s degree in either political science or public administration

o   The applicant must provide a 500 word research proposal

o   The applicant must provide at least two references

o   The applicant must provide a personal statement illustrating their personal interest in the programme.

o   The applicant must show proficiency in the English language
