The University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. The university was established in 1966 taking its name from Captain Matthew Flinders who was the first person to travel around Australia and classify Australia as a continent. Flinders University has earned a prestigious reputation for excellence in research and education. Flinders University offers a diverse range of degree programs for undergraduate, postgraduate, as well as vocational degrees.

The PhD Scholarships

Flinder International Postgraduates Research Scholarship: The FIPRS are granted to international candidates that meet the requirements of academic achievement, as well as show research preparation and presentation. The FIPRS is intended for the use in a full time postgraduate research degree program. Successful recipients of the FIPRS are eligible to receive the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships.

Value: The FIPRS covers the full cost of international tuition fees as well as provides an allowance of $25,395 annually to cover the basic cost of living. The FIPRS also permits a relocation grant with a maximum of $1485 to be applied towards relocating overseas or interstate students to the university.

Duration: The duration of the PhD scholarships is three years and the duration of the Master’s scholarships is two years.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant needs to be an international student in compliance with their visa requirements.
  • The applicant must have a basic understanding of the English language or be working to obtaining a basic knowledge of the language.
  • These scholarships are available to applicants commencing studies at the university.
  • The applicant must have accepted the full time position for research studies at the university.

Selection Criteria: The University will overlook applications and the applicants that have the highest academic marks as well as show research potential will be considered.

The deadline for the FIPRS is the 15th of August.

International Postgraduates Research Scholarship:The IPRS are granted to international candidates that have high academic merit. The IPRS is intended to be used towards a full time postgraduate research degree. Successful recipients of the IPRS are eligible to receive the Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarships.

Value: The IPRS covers the full cost of international tuition fees as well as covers the expense of health care for international students and their dependents. Also IPRS recipients are not required to pay visa fees for themselves or their dependents. Recipients of the IPRS are automatically considered for the FIPRS stipend in the amount of $25,395 annually. The university reserves the right not to allow the stipend award. Recipients with dependents under the age of 18 are considered for a Dependent Child Allowance with the amount awarded being determined by other economic factors in the home environment. The IPRS also allows a relocation allowance that offers a maximum of $1485 to overseas and interstate students relocating to the university to commence studies.

Duration: The duration of the PhD scholarships is three years and the duration of the Master’s scholarships is two years.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant needs to be a full time international student participating in a postgraduate research programme provided by the university.
  • The applicant must have a basic understanding of the English language or be working towards achieving that goal.
  • The IPRS is intended for applicants that are beginning their studies at the university.
  • The applicant must be in accordance with the terms of their visas throughout the duration of their scholarships.
  • The applicant must have achieved high academic marks.

Selection Criteria: Applicants are selected for the IPRS based off of academic excellence. Applicants that have prior experience through research or have academic publications will be ranked higher.
