The Nottingham Trent University

The Nottingham Trent University is a public research university sited in Nottingham, England. Though the school can trace its original roots back to 1843, the school didn’t gain university status until 1992 as new polytechnic university. The Nottingham Trent University is easily one of the UK’s most widely populated areas with over 28,000 applicants spread throughout three individual academic campuses.

The PhD Scholarships

There are many PhD scholarship opportunities available for applicants studying at the Nottingham Trent University. Currently, the school is offering 37 PhD scholarships ranging a variety of different subjects or faculties within the school. The PhD scholarships are awarded through two different faculties of the Nottingham Trent University. The PhD scholarships are listed below:

Scholarship Award

Each of these PhD scholarships offers a tuition waiver for domestic tuition rates. This means that these PhD scholarships cover 100% of the cost of domestic tuition for a duration of three years. These PhD scholarships also award a stipend in the sum of £13,726 to cover the cost of living and other allowances. International applicants are still encouraged to apply but are reminded that they must be able to fund the difference between the international and domestic tuition rates.

Scholarship Duration

These PhD scholarships are intended for a maximum of three years.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • The applicant must have an upper second class or first class degree with honours, or a respectable master’s degree in a research subject relative to their PhD interests.
  • The applicant must be able to communicate professionally. International applicants must submit language assessment scores. The TOEFL or the IELTS will be satisfactory for this requirement.
  • The applicant must compose a clear and well thought out research proposal. The research proposal should clearly state a hypothesis and the outline of research intended to be used to prove or discredit their hypothesis.
  • The applicant must submit a personal statement or essay illustrating any personal obstacles that they have had to overcome to be successful.
