Fully Funded International PhD Studentships at Bangor University for 2014-15

The Bangor University is a public Welsh university situated in Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales. The university received Royal Charter in 1885 and was one of the founding members of the University of Wales. In 2007 the university separated from the University of Wales and formally became Bangor University.

Bangor Business School PhD Studentships          

Bangor University is pleased to offer a number of PhD Studentships to the Bangor Business School. PhD Studentships work essentially the same as PhD scholarships. These PhD scholarships are to be applied to PhD studies in a research degree program in one of the following areas:

  • Strategic Management, Marketing, and Consumer Behavior
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Human Resources and Organizational Behavior
  • Forecasting
  • Banking and Financing

Theses studentships are available for both domestic and international students. Each recipient that is awarded one of these PhD scholarships must contribute at least 100 hours of their time to teaching or research support annually on a research team.

Value

These PhD scholarships award recipients an allowance of £13,500 annually as well as covers tuition fees at the domestic rate. Currently domestic tuition rates are £3,900 annually while international applicants pay £13,000 annually for tuition rates. International recipients will have to secure funding for £9,100 of their annual tuition rates.

Duration

The duration of these studentships is three years

Eligibility

  • The applicant must have accepted a place of study at Bangor University Business School.
  • The applicant must have a degree relative to one of the above subjects
  • The applicant must have a strong academic background
  • The applicant must be prepared to present a research proposal as well as a statement illustrating why they are a good fit for these scholarships
  • The applicant must provide at least two academic recommendations
  • The applicant must be proficient in the English language. Proficiency in Welsh is suggested.

How to Apply

The applicant must apply to the Bangor University Business School and must have accepted a place to study to be considered for these scholarships. It is important that applicants clearly state on their application forms the research project that they are applying for as each subject has a different ongoing research project. The applicant is also required to provide the information of where they originally heard about the research degree project or the PhD studentship. Applications can be filled out online through the school’s website.

All appropriate documentation needs to be submitted to the school. This includes a 500 word personal statement written by the applicant expressing their relevant research skills. This is a chance for the applicant to introduce themselves much like a cover letter. Applicants are required to explain their skill sets as well as previous research experience and a brief description of their graduate studies. The applicant should also submit a 1000 word statement about their personal research interests and focuses. In this statement the applicant must describe any research experience as well as their interest in the research projects and how their interest would benefit the ongoing research project. The applicant is also required to submit a complete CV (resume).

These studentships are highly competitive. Preferred applicants will be ranked at the top of their classes with a high proficiency in the English language.

Deadline

The deadline for theses PhD studentships is the 1st of June.
