International Postgraduate Research Scholarships at Australian Catholic University for 2014-15

The University

The Australian Catholic University is a national public university. The university was established in 1991 after the merger between four Catholic institutions in the eastern part of Australia. The merged schools were the Institute of Catholic Education in Victoria, McAuley College of Queensland, the Catholic College of Education Sidney, as well as the Signadou College of Education. Additional mergers were undertaken and now over 20 historical units come together to enrich the university. The university is a part of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, Association of Commonwealth Universities, as well as funded publicly through the national system for Australian universities.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship

The Australian Catholic University is pleased to announce the availability of their International Postgraduate Research Scholarships. There is a limited number of IPRS scholarships that can be used both for Master degrees as well as towards PhD scholarships. The scholarships are open for international students on a full time study bases.

Value: The IPRS covers tuition fees, health insurance for international students covering both the recipient and their dependents, as well as an additional living allowance of $27,000. Additional allowances for an individual thesis will be taken into consideration and paid if the original receipts are presented to the Graduate Research Office. The thesis allowance will be paid after the tenure for the scholarships has been completed.

Duration: The scholarship lasts for a duration of three years for PhD scholarships and two years for Masters.

Eligibility: Applicant must have accomplished at least a Bachelor’s degree awarded with the highest honours. Additional experience research or work related will be taken into consideration. Applicant must have already been accepted into the Master or doctoral research program, for the first time, at the Australian Catholic University. The applicant may not hold any research qualification equivalent to a doctorate degree when applying for these PhD scholarships. Applicants must remain under international student status for the duration of these PhD scholarships. They must meet all requirements specified by the DIAC regarding international visas. They must also maintain appropriate health insurance required for all international students.

Selection Process:

The selection process for these international scholarships are competitive as well as academically based. The more impressive a student looks based on academic excellence as well as any prior experience or research publication the better chances they have of being awarded International Postgraduate Research Scholarships. Adequate academic performance must be maintained throughout the duration of the award. Recipients who wish to undertake part time work or experience are welcome to do so with the expressed approval of their supervisor. This part time work may not affect the full time study of the student. The university reserves the right to terminate these scholarships at any time.
