International Research Excellence Scholarships at University of the West of Scotland

The University

The University of the West of Scotland is a public university composed of four fully functioning campuses in South Western Scotland. The four campuses are Dumfries, Ayr, Paisley, and Hamilton. The university holds a rich historical reputation and caters to over 18,000 student annually. The University of the West of Scotland is the product of a merger between both the Bell College and the University of Paisley in late 2007. The Privy Council made the decision to change the name of the merged colleges to the University of the West of Scotland that same year. The university is currently one of the largest universities in Scotland.

PhD Scholarships: International Research Excellence Scholarship

The University of the West of Scotland is pleased to announce the limited availability of their International Research Excellence Scholarships. These scholarships are intended for use as PhD scholarships and are awarded based on academic merit.

Value

These PhD scholarships award recipients £3,500 to be put towards their degree program. Applicants will then be eligible for an additional discount of 10% off of tuition fees if the applicant is able to pay the full amount of tuition fees before the enrollment commences.

Duration

The duration of these PhD scholarships last the duration of the program that they are being applied to.

Eligibility: The applicant must be a self-funded international student. The applicant must be required to pay the full price of tuition fees. The applicant must have applied for enrollment at the University of the West of Scotland and have accepted an offer to study. The applicant must not be the recipient of any other UWS scholarships. The applicant must show sufficient evidence of English language proficiency.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to complete an application for enrollment at the university. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the university receives all of the appropriate documentation to render an informed decision. Below is a list of required documentation: The applicant must supply previous academic transcripts and qualifications. The applicant must provide at least two letters of recommendation. If the applicant is of international status from a country where English is not their first language they are required to provide results from their TOEFL or IELTS tests. The applicant must have a research proposal. The applicant must supply a copy of their current visas. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they are in compliance with the terms of their visas at all times.

You must also state on your enrollment application that you wish to be considered for the University of the West of Scotland’s International Research Excellence Scholarships.

In order to maximize your chances the applicant should apply for a position up to a year before the commencement of the program. This allows sufficient time for the applicant to gather all of the required documentation as well as ensure enough time to obtain their visas.

Deadline

The deadline for applications is the 31st of July.
