18 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships at Eindhoven University of Technology Netherlands

The University

The Eindhoven University of Technology is a technical university located in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The university was established in 1956 and is amongst the few technical institutes in the Netherlands. The Eindhoven University of Technology sees an annual enrollment of over 7000 students.

The PhD Scholarships

The Eindhoven University of Technology is pleased to announce the availability of 18 PhD scholarships. These 18 PhD scholarships in data science are awarded for joint research projects between the Data Science Center at Eindhoven University and the Phillips Research at Eindhoven.

The Data Science Center was created to help maintain and monitor the growing volume of important science data. The center covers many areas associated with data science such as:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science
  • Industrial Design
  • Innovation Sciences.

These PhD scholarships are offered through a partnership with the Data Science Center and the Phillips Research Center on three main topics: lighting, health, and data science. The 18 PhD scholarships we are discussing are meant for data science.

The data science research projects are broken down into five main themes:

  1. Data Driven Value Proposition
  2. Healthcare Smart Maintenance
  3. Optimizing Healthcare Workflow
  4. Continuous Personal Health
  5. Data Analytics for Lighting

Award

Recipients of these PhD scholarships are awarded 2,083 per month in the first three years and € 2,664 per month in the last year. Recipients are also allowed holiday allowances of up to 8% as well as a yearly bonus of 8.3%. Applicants that have children will be assisted with child care services and international applicants will be assisted with finding appropriate living accommodations.

Duration

Theses PhD scholarships are intended to last for four years.

Requirements:

  • The applicant must have a master’s degree in a related degree to either: psychology, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, or mathematics.
  • The applicant must be motivated and disciplined and be able to develop algorithms and high quality software.
  • The applicant must be a quick learner and creative and present a good work ethic
  • The applicant must possess excellent communication skills and be a team member.
  • The applicant must be fluent in all forms of English. Applicants that come from countries where English is not their first language will be required to submit language assessment scores.
  • The applicant must be prepared to work with others to contribute to the research project. They also must be able and willing to present their groups findings at international conferences should they ever be asked to do so.
  • The applicant must be able and willing to work from two different locations one at the Eindhoven University Data Science Center and the other at the Philips High Tech Campus.
  • The applicant must be available to take on teaching responsibilities
  • Applicants must submit a research proposal, an updated CV, as well as a personal statement illustrating their research purposes and why they believe they should be considered for the award.

Deadline

The selection period for these PhD scholarships is between the 1st of July and the 1st of November, applicants wishing to apply should do so within this time period.
