45 International Fully Funded PhD Fellowships at Boehringer Ingelheim Germany

The Boehringer Ingelheim is an organization that was founded back in 1885 by Albert Boehringer in Germany. The Boehringer group is one of the world’s top twenty leading pharmaceutical companies. The company headquarters is in Ingelheim, Germany. The company has a global influence with key interests in cardiovascular disease, HIV, respiratory disease, Parkinson’s disease, oncology, diabetes, and hepatitis to just name a few. The goal of the organization is to develop research in the above interest areas.

PhD Fellowships

The Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine organization is pleased to announce the availability of their PhD. Fellowships. These PhD scholarships are offered to students that have outstanding academic backgrounds that are wishing to undertake their PhD studies. These studentships or PhD scholarships are extremely competitive and number around 45 being awarded annually.

Value

These PhD scholarships is comprised of a monthly allowance. The PhD scholarships also pay for tuition as well as offers and additional £1,000 annually to enhance existing stipends. The base amount for the monthly allowance is 1,550 euros. The amount of the monthly allowance is subject to the different countries the individual applicant is from.

Duration

These PhD scholarships are initially held for the duration of two years   but they are available for a 12 month extension bringing the final duration to a maximum of three years.

Eligibility: These scholarships cannot be used towards paying for doctoral course work. These scholarships are exclusive for the use in research projects. The applicant must have accepted a place of study with the university. The applicant will be responsible for securing additional funds to cover additional costs of doctoral degrees. International students are required to be in compliance with the terms of their visas at all times. Applicants must show an understanding of the English language. International students may be asked to present evidence of proficiency. Applicants are required to have at least two letters of recommendation from high level academic scholars. Applicants are not allowed to work while receiving these PhD scholarships. Applicants are required to have a research proposal that they are prepared to defend illustrating what they are hoping for their doctoral program.

How to Apply

Applying to these scholarships starts out in two parts. Applicants must start online with the online application for enrollment into the program. This application is to be completed online. Then paper copies of the application are to be included with all documentation needed and sent through the mail. It is important that the deadlines are abided by.

The completed application including the research proposal are required to be in English and must be written by the individual applicant. Presentation is key. Do not present an application that has been bound, tacked, stapled, or glued together. Paperwork being sent electronically need to be sent in PDF file.

Once all the copies of applications have been sent successfully a Board of Trustees will come together to decide on who receives the PhD scholarships. Recipients should start being informed up to 4 weeks after the application deadline. The board comes together three times a year to decide on these PhD scholarships.

Deadline

The deadline for these scholarships are the 1st of February, June, and October.
