The University: The University of Aberdeen

The University of Aberdeen is amongst the ancient universities and amongst the oldest in Scotland. The research focused university was originally established in 1495 after a petition was made between the then Pope and the king to create a King’s College. The University of Aberdeen is the third oldest university within Scotland and the fifth oldest within the English speaking world. The university today is the product of an 1860’s merger between the King’s College and the Marischal College. The university is ranked prestigiously among the world and sees a yearly enrollment of over 13,000 applicants.

The University of Aberdeen: The PhD Scholarships

Scholarship Summary: There are many different PhD scholarships available for candidates that are choosing to pursue their studies at the University of Aberdeen.

Number of Scholarships: Currently, the University of Aberdeen is able to provide 132 PhD scholarships that are offered through a variety of different departments within the university.

Scholarship Award: These PhD scholarships offer full funded doctoral scholarships. This includes the full domestic tuition rates as well as a generous annual allowance of £13,863 that is divided into equal monthly payments. It is important to note that not all of these scholarships can be offered to international applicants due to budget restrictions. However, the scholarships that are available for both domestic and international applicants only differ in that the international applicant must fund the remaining difference between the two tuition rates.

The Deadline for Scholarship Applications

Each of these PhD scholarships has either open deadlines or approaching deadlines.
