The University

Deakin University is a public university based in Victoria, Australia. The university is composed of three different campuses located in Melbourne, Geelong, and Warrnambool. Deakin University is well known for focusing on student culture, being accessible, friendly, and helpful, as well as delivering innovative courses paired with excellent teaching methods.

The PhD Scholarships

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship: The IPRS is a postgraduate scholarship intended for international students wishing to undertake studies at Deakin University. Students that are eligible for IPRS awards are also eligible for the Australian Postgraduate Awards.

Value: These PhD scholarships award an annual stipend in the amount of $25,392 and a relocation grant that allows for a maximum of $1840 to be spent towards overseas and interstate students to relocate to the university. This scholarship waives tuitions fees, offers paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave, as well as covers the expenses of health insurance for international students.

Duration: The duration of these PhD scholarships is three years.

Eligibility:

  • Successful applicants should have received honours on their past degrees or evidence of academic excellence.
  • The IPRS is intended for applicants wishing to participate in a full time research programme provided by the university.

How to Apply: The applicant must complete an enrollment application for the school. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all appropriate documentation is received by the university. The IPRS is awarded for academic merit. Any previous publications or research work will be taken into consideration.

Deadline: Deadline for the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship is the 31st of July.

Deakin University International Scholars Program:The DUISP is a scholarship program intended for international students wishing to undertake studies at the university. The DUISP is intended for either undergraduate, postgraduate, or as PhD scholarships. Successful applicants should have received high marks on all degrees and transcripts. The DUISP is intended for full time studies and will be awarded to applicants who are applying to begin their courses at the university. Students that have already commenced their studies will not be eligible for this award.

Value: The DUISP offers $5000 annually to high achieving students. The scholarship is intended to be used to reduce tuition fees.

Duration: These scholarships are awarded for the length of the program the student is undertaking.

Eligibility:

  • The DUISP is intended for full time studies and will be awarded to applicants who are applying to begin their courses at the university.
  • Students that have already commenced their studies will not be eligible for this award.
  • The applicant must be of international student status able to provide proof of English language proficiency.

How to Apply:

  • The applicant must complete an enrollment application with the university stating that they wished to be considered for this scholarship.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all appropriate documentation is received by the school for consideration.
