Oxford Brookes University is a public university positioned in Oxford, England. The Oxford Brookes University was originally founded as the Oxford School of Art in 1865. In 1870, the School of Science was added to the area and the institute was repurposed as the Oxford City Technical School. 1934 saw the merger of both the School of Arts and the Technological School to form what today is the Oxford Brookes University. The university was renamed Oxford Brookes University in 1992, deriving its name from its first principal to managed the merger of the schools, John Henry Brookes.
The PhD Scholarships: John Henry Brookes Scholarships
The Oxford Brookes University is pleased to announce the limited availability of their John Henry Brookes Scholarships. The John Henry Brookes Scholarships obtain funding through generous contributions from the Oxford Brooke International and the Brooke Alumni Fund. The John Henry Brookes Scholarships are a group of scholarships intended to be used as Master’s or as PhD scholarships in a full time degree program.
Value:
The value of the John Henry Brookes Scholarships is different throughout the departments. Below is a breakdown of some of the different awards received:
- Faculty of Business– a small number of scholarships are awarded to the Faculty of Business and are intended for the use in a postgraduate degree program. The scholarships awards anywhere from £1,000 to £2,000 annually to applicants of either domestic or international student status that are enrolled full time in a degree program within the School of Business.
- Faculty of Health and Life Science– a small number of scholarships are awarded to the Faculty of Health and Life Science and are intended for the use in a postgraduate degree program. The scholarships are anywhere from £1,000 to £2,000 annually and are applied to either domestic or international students that are enrolled full time in a degree program within the following departments:
1 – Biological and Medical Science 2 – Sports and Health Science 3- Psychology, Social Work, and Public Health 4-Clinical Health Care
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Science- Three scholarship awards are awarded in the amount of £1,500 and one scholarships award in the amount of £2,000 annually to domestic or international students enrolled in a full time study program. These PhD scholarships are awarded in the following departments:
o Department of Social Science
o School of Law
o School of Education
o Department of History, Philosophy, and Religions
o Department of English and Modern Languages
- Faculty of Technology, Design, and Environment-a limited number of both Master’s and PhD scholarships are available annually through the Faculty of Technology, Design, and Environment. These scholarships cover the following departments:
o Department of Real Estate and Construction
o School of Architecture
o Department of Planning
o Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Science
o Department of Computing and Communications Technology
Duration
The duration of these scholarships is for the length of the program that they are being applied to.
Eligibility
Each department submits their own requirements for eligibility. The applicant is encouraged to figure out the individual requirements for their programs.
How to Apply
Applicants must complete an enrollment application for the Oxford Brookes University. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all the appropriate documentation is received by the school.
Applicants will only be considered for scholarships if they have accepted a place to study at the university. Applicants who try to apply to the scholarships before being awarded an offer to study will not be viewed for consideration.
